FACTS TO KNOW ABOUT
Hiring an Arborist
An arborist can determine what type of pruning is necessary to improve the health, appearance, and safety of your trees. They can also provide the services of a trained crew with all the required safety equipment and liability insurance along with workers compensation coverage. Tree trimming and removals can be very dangerous and should be performed by a qualified tree company.

Things to look for when hiring an arborist:
  • Membership in a professional organization such as International Society of Arboriculture
  • Certification through ISA Certified Arborist program
  • Proof of insurance
  • Proof of WSIB
  • A list of references
  • First Aid & CPR certificates
  • Aerial rescue & Emergency Response
  • Avoid using tree companies that advertise topping of trees and using climbing spikes to climb trees that are being pruned. Climbing spikes should only be used on removals in order not to damage the tree.
